Construction work has begun on Denizen Works’ Teahouse in Phortse, a farming village located at an altitude of 3840m in the Khumbu Valley in Nepal. The project was developed for the Little Sherpa Foundation, a philanthropic organisation that works to transform the lives of poor and vulnerable children whose parents lose their lives whilst working as Sherpas.
ネパールの多くの地域と同様、Phortse も2015年4月に同地方を襲った大地震の被害を受けました。Denizen Works は、地元の材料を用いて容易に建設でき、将来の地震にも耐えうる建物の設計を依頼されました。
この Teahouse には、個室の寝室、食堂、キッチン、シャワー、オフィス、瞑想センターが設けられており、地域住民やエベレスト登頂を目指すトレッカーたちに利用されます。
