Ardleigh Green is a 6th Form campus in north-west London comprised of several ageing teaching blocks. The project seeks to establish a new central courtyard at the heart of the campus whilst providing a deep retrofit of the main building, Block A. This building is to be stripped back to its concrete frame with a new internal layout designed to meet modern teaching standards and a new facade to transform the appearance of the building and create a distinct new identity for the college. The works will allow for significant thermal upgrades in line with the high sustainability aspirations of the client aims to be the first educational renovation project in the UK to achieve BREEAM Outstanding.
Denizen Works were brought in at Stage 4 to develop the technical design whilst delivering significant cost savings. We worked closely with the client and design team to propose a new facade design that retained a strong sense of identity whilst providing the required cost savings and robust detailing to simplify interfaces on site. The changes were carefully considered so as to be approved via a non-material amendment to prevent any delays to the project programme.
Denizen Works have been retained as the client’s Technical Advisor to safeguard the design during the construction phase.
